Concerts on the Green 2026: Mission Viejo's Free Summer Series

Concerts on the Green 2026: Mission Viejo's Free Summer Series

Concerts on the Green is Mission Viejo's free summer concert series at the Village Green at Oso Viejo Park, 24932 Veterans Way. The 2026 season features three Friday night shows from 6 to 8 pm: Family Style on June 12, Tijuana Dogs on July 17, and Common Sense on July 31. Admission is free. Every show includes free bounce houses for kids, gourmet food trucks, and beer and wine for purchase. Our team at Darren Shepherd Real Estate is proud to be a presenting sponsor this season, and this guide covers everything you need to know before you go.

What Is Concerts on the Green?

Concerts on the Green is the City of Mission Viejo's flagship summer music series. The city hosts it on the Village Green, the large lawn at Oso Viejo Community Park next to the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. Thousands of residents turn out on concert Fridays with blankets, low-back chairs, and picnic setups.

This is a different event from the Lake Mission Viejo summer concert series. The lake concerts at North Beach are exclusive to Lake Mission Viejo members and their guests, with big touring acts and a $20 guest fee. Concerts on the Green is open to everyone, no membership required, no ticket needed. If you want the full breakdown on how lake membership works, read our Lake Mission Viejo homes guide.

The July 17 show doubles as a community showcase. The Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce hosts a Business Expo on the Green from 4 to 7 pm, connecting local businesses with residents before the music starts at 6.

What Does It Cost?

Nothing to attend. Every Concerts on the Green show is free.

Two things cost money if you want them. Food trucks and the beer and wine garden are pay as you go. And the city sells VIP table seating: a reserved table for 10 people runs $100, purchased in advance at missionviejo.gov/register. For a group of families splitting it, that works out to $10 per seat for a guaranteed table near the stage on a night when the lawn fills up fast.

What to Bring (and What to Leave Home)

Bring low-back chairs and blankets. The city asks that chairs stay low-back so sightlines hold for everyone behind you. Bring cash or cards for the food trucks. Bring the kids, the bounce houses are free.

Leave pets at home. The city's rule is firm on this one for every Concerts on the Green date.

Parking is at the Norman P. Murray Center lot at 24932 Veterans Way and along the surrounding streets. Lots fill early on concert nights. Arriving by 5 pm gets you parking and a good spot on the lawn. Arriving at 6 usually means a walk.

Why We Sponsor This Series

Darren Shepherd Real Estate is a presenting sponsor of Concerts on the Green this season. Here is the honest reason why.

Our team has sold hundreds of homes across Mission Viejo, and the thing buyers respond to most is not square footage. It is the way this city functions as a community. Mission Viejo is the only incorporated master-planned city in Orange County, and events like this are what that planning was for: a central green, walkable from surrounding neighborhoods, where a few thousand neighbors show up on a Friday night because the city made it easy.

We would rather put our name on that than on another bus bench. If you see our team at the Green on July 31, come say hi.

How Oso Viejo Park Fits Into Mission Viejo Life

Oso Viejo Community Park sits in the center of the city off Marguerite Parkway, in the 92692 ZIP. Beyond the concert series, the park hosts the annual Mission Viejo BBQ and Music Festival each July and Pacific Symphony's free Symphony in the Cities performance, which returns to the Village Green on August 8, 2026 at 7 pm.

The park anchors one of the most walkable stretches of the city. The Norman P. Murray Center, the Mission Viejo Library area, and Village Green programming give the surrounding neighborhoods a genuine community core, the kind of amenity that shows up in how quickly homes nearby go under contract. When relocating buyers ask us what living in Mission Viejo actually feels like, a Friday night at Concerts on the Green is usually our answer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Concerts on the Green free to attend?

Yes. Every show in the series is free and open to the public. No tickets or registration required for general lawn seating. Food trucks and the beer and wine garden are available for purchase, and optional VIP table seating for 10 is sold in advance for $100 at missionviejo.gov/register.

Where is Concerts on the Green held?

At the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park, next to the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, CA 92692. Parking is available at the Murray Center lot and on surrounding streets, and it fills quickly on concert nights.

What time do the concerts start?

Music runs from 6 to 8 pm on concert Fridays. On July 17, the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce Business Expo runs on the Green from 4 to 7 pm before and during the show. Arriving around 5 pm is the practical move for parking and lawn position.

Can I bring chairs and a picnic?

Yes. Low-back chairs and blankets are welcome, and most families bring their own picnic. High-back chairs are discouraged because they block sightlines. Gourmet food trucks and a beer and wine garden are on site if you would rather buy dinner there.

Are dogs allowed at Concerts on the Green?

No. The city asks concertgoers to leave pets at home for every show in the series. Service animals are the standard exception under state and federal law.

Is this the same as the Lake Mission Viejo concerts?

No. The Lake Mission Viejo concert series at North Beach is a separate, members-only event run by the Lake Mission Viejo Association, with guest passes at $20 per person. Concerts on the Green is a City of Mission Viejo event, free and open to everyone.

How many concerts are in the 2026 series?

Three: Family Style on June 12, Tijuana Dogs on July 17, and Common Sense on July 31. All three run 6 to 8 pm at the Village Green at Oso Viejo Park. Symphony in the Cities follows on the same lawn August 8, a separate free event with Pacific Symphony.
